W・H・オーデン

[1907.2.21 - 1973.9.29]

イギリスの詩人。文体と技法において強い影響を与え、20世紀最大の詩人とも言われる。初期の政治的・心理的なものを経て、後期は宗教的・哲学的な主題へと至った。オックスフォード大学詩学教授。著書は『オーデン詩集』『オーデン わが読書』『しばしの間は』『不安の時代―バロック風田園詩』『染物屋の手』『もうひとつの時代』『新年の手紙』『第二の世界』『シェイクスピアの都市』『演説者たち』等。
